The AAMI Park pitch invader who hurled a bucket of sand at Melbourne City goalkeeper Tom Glover has successfully appealed his jail sentence over the “cowardly and disgraceful” act.
Alex Agelopoulos, 24, was seen hugging his lawyers and family members after Judge Mark Gamble set aside a three month jail sentence for violent disorder and disrupting a game, instead imposing an “onerous” three and a half year community corrections order.
“This was a serious offence and you should never forget that; you have been given an opportunity to avoid jail and serve your sentence in the community,” Judge Gamble said.
“Your future is in your hands.”
