German investigators have secured the largest Captagon find to date: a total of 460 kilograms. The leads so far lead to a Syrian cartel.
In recent months, customs investigators have seized the largest amount of the drug Captagon ever found in Germany. According to research by an ARD network from BR, MDR, RBB and SWR, in collaboration with the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" and the "Mediengruppe Bayern", 460 kilograms of the drug worth around 60 million euros were confiscated nationwide. Together with discoveries in 2022 at Cologne/Bonn and Leipzig/Halle airports, this involves around 3.2 million drug tablets.
The investigation into the finds has so far revealed the smugglers' method: They packed the Captagon tablets in sandbags, among other things, to hide them.
