Locals in Anthony Albanese's Marrickville constituency hit back against accusations of him being a 'weak' prime minister.

He has been labelled a beta male and a 'weak' prime minister by his critics and slammed for not doing enough to tackle the cost-of-living crisis.

But locals in Anthony Albanese's home suburb of Marrickville in Sydney's trendy inner-west are steadfast in their support for the PM. 

They claim Mr Albanese - battling inflation and reeling from the defeat of his Indigenous Voice to Parliament - is doing a good job in difficult circumstances.

That's even as a recent Newspoll showing that nationally, his net approval is in the red at minus eight, down from a high of 35 in mid-2022.

Daily Mail Australia visited the inner-Sydney suburb where Mr Albanese lived for 33 years - before moving to the Lodge in Canberra after becoming Australia's 31st prime minister in May 2022.

And one possible reason for locals' loyalty to the PM is clear - he certainly hasn't abandoned the area, despite the national and international demands of his job.
