“We have already seen in Germany what this can lead to” – these are the words used by the descendants of Nazi resistance fighters to call for the protection of democracy against right-wing extremism. Around 280 people signed, including the descendants of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg and Carl Friedrich Goerdeler.

Gemma Pörzgen formulated the call with fellow campaigners and collected the signatures. The 61-year-old journalist urgently warns against the AfD. She feels indebted to her grandparents, who fought against the Nazi dictatorship. Her grandfather lost his life at the hands of the SS.
