Country Liberal Party Member for Barkly Steve Edgington has resigned as shadow minister for the prevention of domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV).
In a statement on Thursday afternoon, he said he took the decision because he did not want to distract from the "devastatingly high rates" of DFSV in the territory.
Katherine MLA Jo Hersey will take on the portfolio, while Mr Edgington will retain his other portfolios, including shadow attorney-general.
