The state's corruption watchdog has terminated its investigation into former Labor frontbencher Tim Crakanthorp, finding there are no prospects of finding corrupt conduct in relation to landholdings linked to his wife's family.

The state's corruption watchdog has terminated an investigation into former Labor frontbencher Tim Crakanthorp, finding there were "no reasonable prospects of finding his behaviour sufficiently serious to justify a finding of corrupt conduct".

Premier Chris Minns in August referred the Newcastle MP to the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) after he self-reported a breach of the ministerial code of conduct over landholdings linked to his wife's family.

Mr Crakanthorp was stood down as the minister for the Hunter and minister for skills, TAFE and tertiary education after the referral.

Mr Minns said Mr Crakanthorp failed to disclose significant family land holdings in the Hunter and alleged he potentially had a conflict of interest between his public duties and private interests.

On Wednesday, the ICAC said it had prepared a report that included its factual and other findings concerning Mr Crakanthorp's conduct in relation to the NSW Ministerial Code of Conduct.
