With the arrival of party conventions this Saturday, the 20th, the PT, of president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the PL, of former president Jair Bolsonaro, are preparing to formalize their candidates in the October municipal elections. The PT plans to launch candidates in 14 capitals, while the PL is expected to launch in 15. The two acronyms, however, are expected to have direct confrontations in only nine of the 26 state capitals.

Unlike other elections, the PT decided to prioritize alliances instead of launching candidacies in this election. Historically, the party adopts the strategy of launching as many candidacies as possible to establish a position.
