Belfast Telegraph - 26/08
Oasis fans in Northern Ireland and across the globe were sent into a frenzy today when estranged brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher shared a cryptic social media post hinting at a potential reunion.

The simple date, posted simultaneously by both brothers, sparked immediate speculation that the iconic Manchester band was set to end their 15-year hiatus.

The news ignited excitement among fans, particularly here where the band has a dedicated following after their famous 1994 gig in Belfast.

As rumours swirl of a new tour or album, fans are eagerly awaiting an official announcement from the brothers, whose combined talent and songwriting prowess propelled Oasis to global stardom, selling over 75 million records worldwide.

Nick McCay, the frontman of NI-based Oasis tribute band Roll With It, said the potential reunion of the Gallagher brothers is like “Christmas Eve”.

“I think it’s amazing news, especially for the kids who never got to see Oasis the first time around,” he said.

“When a band splits up, it’s generally accepted by fans but it never felt like that with Oasis and people have been wanting this pretty much from the moment it all ended in 2009.

“It really does feel like Christmas Eve, but there are so many questions. Who’s in the lineup? How many shows? New material? How many hours will the queue be at the bars?”

However, as with many fans, Nick is cautious and keeping his expectations in check.

Given the brothers’ reputation, many Oasis lovers are not confident if a reunion is announced that it will actually go ahead on the back of their notoriously frosty relationship.
