“Very dangerous” thunderstorm warnings have been issued for parts of Queensland as ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred caused widespread flooding and power outages.

Alfred weakened to a tropical low as it approached the mainland on Saturday but has still caused significant damage, with fierce winds ripping up homes and trees and heavy rainfall causing dangerous flash flooding across southeast Queensland and northern NSW.
