A brutal heatwave is blanketing the south east coast of Australia, with millions warned of hotter conditions before a cold snap hits the country.
The Bureau of Meteorology warned of a severe heatwave washing over parts of southern Australia, stretching from southeast Western Australia and SA to the far east regions of NSW and Victoria.
Forecaster Jonathan How said the “burst of Autumn heat” was driven by “very hot” winds coming from the centre of the country and spreading towards the southern regions, with some areas expected to tip past 40C.
