Jim Gavin says ‘challenges remain’ for Dublin’s north east inner city

Jim Gavin, the Chair of the North East Inner City Implementation Board, says it has ambitious targets which will help “resolve the challenges that remain in the area”.
At the launch of the NEIC Progress Report and Strategic Plan for 2024-2027, Mr Gavin emphasised the ongoing efforts to improve key areas like safety, education, employment and community wellbeing.
“The new Strategic Plan sets ambitious targets to help resolve the challenges that remain for the area,” he said.
“It demonstrates our commitment to work with all stakeholders to drive and deliver projects with clear direction and purpose.
“The board continues to work to empower the community and local businesses to achieve our shared vision for the area,” he added.
Mr Gavin said improved community safety and reducing crime were major priorities for the area, followed by education, support and well-being for children and families.
Enhancing the condition and cleanliness of the area and supporting those living with and recovering from drug use, were other targets over the next three years.
