A 24-year-old Perth man looked like he had it all: an affluent lifestyle, an opulent house, a luxury vehicle, overseas holidays, the perfect family and success, but the reality was much darker.

In May 2020, Andre Zachary Rebelo was living with his partner of eight years, Grace Piscopo, who was a successful model and social media influencer with more than one million followers on Instagram.

Rebelo portrayed himself as a thriving crypto currency day trader who lived a glamorous life with his partner and child some people might envy, but it was mostly funded by credit cards and personal loans.

Rebelo had been investing in cryptocurrency for about three years but had not made any money.

The couple shared carefully curated photos on social media that could earn Ms Piscopo thousands of dollars from brands she promoted online.
