China’s foreign ministry on Monday said they have lodged “stern” representations with the US over reports that a delegation from Taiwan is in Washington for secret talks.

On Saturday, the Financial Times reported that Taiwan security chief Joseph Wu and his entourage flew to Washington for talks with the Trump administration.

Their trip comes as Beijing ramps up military drills around the self-governing island it views as a breakaway province.
