Aid cuts threatening fragile progress in ending maternal deaths - UN warns

United Nations agencies have issued a stern warning that cuts in aid will threaten the progress in ending maternal deaths globally.

The agencies gave the warning in a new report released on the World Health Day.

The UN agencies highlighted in the report the threat of major backsliding as unprecedented aid cuts take effect across the world.

The report, titled:” Trend in maternal mortality” indicated a 40 percent global decline in maternal deaths between 2000 and 2023, largely due to improved access to essential health care services.
