Canada began applying from 00:01 on Wednesday (04:01 GMT) a 25 % tariff to certain cars made in the United States, in direct response to equivalent measures adopted by the government of President Donald Trump, which since April 3 gravels with the same rate to vehicles produced in Canada that do not meet the requirements of the treaty between Mexico, United States and Canada (T-MEC).
