Aqaba- The Science and Research Academy and the marine neighborhood exhibition to be established in Aqaba reflects the royal vision of attention to the marine environment and the rich biological diversity in the Gulf of Aqaba, and the coastal and tourist identity of the city, in which the various marine environmental products vary, in addition to that it is an educational destination to be the first of its kind in Jordan and the region in terms of its goals and characteristics. The existence of the complex, whose giving was presented at the end of last year the environmental impact of the project, enhances Jordan's regional and global status, and it is in line with sustainable development and strategic goals to enhance competitiveness, stimulate innovation and adaptation with climate change, achieve social integration, improve governance, and enhance sustainable growth to reach a flexible area capable of adaptation. It is noteworthy that the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, with the support of the European Union and the United Nations Development Program, signed two years ago an agreement to support the management of the Aqaba Maritime Reserve, and to set designs for the Aqaba Academy Complex, with the aim of enhancing sustainable economic development, with a focus on procedures for addressing the impact of climate change, supporting green growth and economic development. Experts said that the presence of the Aqaba Science Academy is an additional value and a major supporter for all environmental authorities and organizations in Aqaba and the Kingdom, and enhances initiatives and projects related to biological diversity and the marine environment, and is reflected in all sectors, especially the tourism sector. Develop sustainable solutions for environmental challenges According to the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism at the University of Jordan, Dr. Muhammad Al -Zubda, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority is directed to the establishment of the Aqaba Complex for Research and Studies in the field of purely and applied marine sciences to be an advanced regional center concerned with promoting scientific knowledge and developing sustainable solutions to the environmental challenges facing the Gulf of Aqaba, in a strategic step that reflects the authority’s interest in preserving the marine environment and promoting scientific research in the region. He added, "This trend comes in line with the unique environmental importance of the Gulf, which is one of the richest marine environmental systems in the world, with its unique coral diversity and sensitive environmental systems that require extensive scientific efforts to preserve it." Al -Zubda pointed out that "this complex is expected to have a great impact on the educational and environmental levels, as it will enhance the capabilities of academic and research institutions in Jordan by providing advanced infrastructure and training and research opportunities for students and researchers, and will also contribute to the production of scientific knowledge that supports environmental and development policies." He said, "Although there is an existing research center currently in Aqaba, it is affiliated with the University of Jordan and the University of Yarmouk, which is the marine science station, the new complex will complete these efforts and expand its scope, through cooperation and integration with this center, by providing a more specialized and advanced research environment in various fields." Al -Zubda stressed that "the complex will be an advanced scientific platform at the national and regional levels to contribute to strengthening Jordan's position as a reference and knowledge center in sea sciences, especially within the framework of regional cooperation in the Red Sea region, which may provide broader prospects for cognitive exchange and implement joint research projects with the countries of the region, which contribute to protecting joint marine resources and developing sustainable uses."
