A father has recounted the sickening moment he was set upon by a group of wild youths in a Sydney park after confronting them for attacking his two young children.

The man and his wife were at a playground at Blaxland Riverside Park in the city’s west on Sunday afternoon with their sons, aged just six and three, when the terrifying incident occurred.

The boys were playing on a climbing platform when a group of teens began shoving and harassing them.

“One of them took my six-year-old’s hat and refused to return it,” the father told news.com.au.

“I was watching them the whole time so I could see what was happening … they were pushing and intimidating the boys. I rushed up and got them down, then I was assaulted by the group.”
