Western countries have long suspected Iran of seeking to acquire nuclear weapons, an allegation Tehran has consistently denied, insisting that its programme is for peaceful civilian purposes.

The United Nations has warned that Iran is 'not far' from possessing a nuclear bomb, just days after Donald Trump told the Islamic Republic to give up its drive for nukes.
