KOMPAS.com - In the midst of the uncertainty of the global economy, consumers seem to be prepared to face the potential increase in gadget prices and electronic devices.

This was triggered by a policy known as the "Trump Rates". This is an executive order from US President Donald Trump in the form of a tax percentage imposed on the value of an item imported from another country to the US.

China became the target with a high Trump rate, reaching 145 percent as of April 14.

This is a bad news for global electronics companies, considering that China is one of the central countries that produces a variety of gadget and laptop components and assembles smartphones and PCs.

Although there are exceptions to import tariffs for a number of electronic products from China for the next 90 days, analysts consider this not to guarantee price stability in the global market, including Indonesia.

For Indonesia, this situation is said to be exacerbated by the rupiah exchange rate that continues to weaken against the US dollar.
