NI mum fighting for her life following crash a day before her father died: 'It's heart-breaking'

Belfast Telegraph - 17/04
The father of a woman in north Antrim who was critically injured in a road crash died the day after his daughter’s accident.

A GoFundMe page has been created by Mosside Presbyterian Church to raise funds for the family.

The church also held a prayer vigil for Shelley Feeney, who remains in hospital after the single-vehicle collision in Ballymoney on Monday.

Emergency services attended the scene in the Knockmore Road area shortly after 10.30am and rushed the casualty, who is aged in her 30s, to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

A PSNI spokesperson said a child also sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Mosside Presbyterian Church opened its doors on Tuesday evening, inviting residents to pray for Ms Feeney and her family after inviting “as many people as we can fit into the church hall” to attend.

Rev Andre Alves-Areias said the young woman’s father James died a day after the crash and thanked the local community for their response to the double tragedy.

“The community is obviously shocked and saddened at what has happened to Shelley, and the news that her father passed away the day after is just heart-breaking,” he said.
