While observers believe that Moscow's support for the Iranian nuclear program is conditional on several important changes, including its progress, goals and levels of relations between Tehran and the West, others confirm that there is no conflict in interest between Iran and Russia.
Tehran/Moscow- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araraqi announced yesterday, Wednesday, that during his visit to Russia this weekend, he will carry a "text message" from Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ismail Baqi, revealed that Araqji will visit Moscow this weekend, and will consult with her on the recent talks between Tehran and the United States in the Sultanate of Oman. He explained that the visit "was planned in advance, but there will be consultations on talks with Washington."
Russia, which has a permanent seat in the UN Security Council and has the right to veto, is playing a role in nuclear negotiations between the West and Iran as its ally and from the signatories of the 2015 nuclear agreement from which the United States withdrew in 2018.
Conditional support
Russia called for a focus on diplomatic communications instead of procedures that may lead to an escalation. Last week, it held with China and Iran consultations at the level of experts on the Iranian nuclear program in Moscow.
