Subaru's Most Useful Easter Egg Yet Is On The 2026 Outback

Subaru is truly thinking outside the box with the new Outback, but who knew taillights could be so practical?

The 2026 Subaru Outback has already drawn a lot of criticism for its looks, starting with how its style has gone from that of a lifted station wagon to a more mainstream crossover style. However, it's another evolution of Subaru's excellent Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system on a vehicle that the brand has paid as much attention to as ever.

One of those details is in the form of a useful little Easter egg for those who need to measure something out in the field. If you look closely at the rear taillights, you can see notches at the top. These go around, then span the entire length of the individual taillights and work as a ruler.
