Iraqi politicians explain the strategic dimensions of the Sharia and Sudanese meeting

It is hoped that the Sudanese and Sharia meeting in Doha will pave the new era of Iraqi -Syrian relations, amid efforts to make the upcoming Arab summit in Baghdad in the presence of Damascus, and focus on security and economic cooperation between them.

BAGHDAD- Iraqi officials and observers considered that the first meeting of its kind that brought together Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shi'a Al-Sudani and Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shara in Doha is a clear indication of a common desire for the two countries to start a new stage of bilateral relations.

The Iraqi News Agency quoted an official Iraqi source, which he described as "close to the government" as saying that "the tripartite meeting came due to the accelerating events in the region, especially what is happening in Syria."

On the other hand, the Syrian presidency affirmed that the meeting dealt with bilateral relations between Syria and Iraq within the framework of the two sides' keenness to reactivate the paths of joint Arab cooperation, and to emphasize the depth of historical ties between the two brotherly peoples.

The Iraqi Prime Minister announced the day before yesterday, Wednesday, that an official invitation was sent to the Syrian President to attend the Arab Summit, which will be hosted by the capital, Baghdad, in May.
