Not in the same place, not with the same team, not in the same competition, so it’s not quite the case that lightening has struck twice. It’s close enough, though. Close enough to be almost uncanny.
At the very least you could say that the Kerry captain has a knack for it. A knack for the dramatic. Last minute winners. Firing over from a decent distance, slightly off balance, the ball curling over the bar.
Last time it was for his club, Abbeydorney, in the Munster club championship quarter-final against Waterford outfit Brickey Rangers in Dungarvan. He broke the home side’s hearts on that occasion. On Saturday in St Conleth’s Park, Oisín Maunsell did the very same thing to Kildare.
