US: Republicans, Democrats senators clash over reported leaked second war chat

Democrats and Republican Senators have shared divergent views about the US secretary of defense, Pete Hegseth.

While the Democrats are calling for Hegseth’s resignation, the Republicans are echoing President Donald Trump’s support for him

This is despite rumbles in the Pentagon over Hegesth’s ability to do his job following a reported second leaked war chat.

Republican lawmakers are largely following Trump’s lead and backed the defense secretary.

The Democrats feel he is incompetent and should resign.

A post on Senate Republican’s X account Tuesday, blamed “disgruntled” former employees for the bad press: “Secretary Pete Hegseth is a veteran who is implementing President Trump’s America first agenda. Disgruntled former employees at the Pentagon are trying to undermine the agenda that Americans voted for.”
