An Abuja-based labour expert and political analyst, Abdullahi Musa, has urged unions within the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) to embrace constructive dialogue rather than resorting to threats of industrial action, warning that persistent disruptions could erode the agency’s notable progress.

In a statement issued on Monday, Musa criticized the four-day warning strike declared by three labour unions — the National Union of Air Transport Employees, the Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals, and the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees — under the NiMet Joint Action Committee.

The unions claim the agency’s management breached agreements related to staff welfare, including delayed payments and training issues.
