South Africans to enjoy an ‘extra’ public holiday next week

Thanks to Freedom Day, which is celebrated annually on 27 April and falls on a Sunday this year, South Africans will enjoy an ‘extra’ public holiday on Monday, 28 April.

That’s because the Public Holidays Act (Act No 36 of 1994) determines that whenever any public holiday falls on a Sunday, the Monday following it will also be a public holiday.

But that’s not the only good public holiday news next week!

Later that same week on Thursday, 1 May, it will be Workers’ Day.
