All-New Nissan Frontier Pro Looks Epic, Packs Plug-in Hybrid Power, But Has One Big Problem

Nissan has bowed out of the pickup truck segment in America, but the new plug-in hybrid Frontier is a looker that needs to make it stateside.

Out of nowhere, Nissan has lifted the wraps on an all-new Frontier pickup truck at the Shanghai Auto Show (Auto Shanghai 2025). The fact that there's a new-gen Frontier - called the Frontier Pro - isn't all that major, but the big deal is that this is a plug-in hybrid truck, something we feel Nissan desperately needs to bring to the USA. But revealing the truck in China and choosing to launch it in the Chinese market first suggests it might not reach the US.

When Nissan recently divulged its product plan for the next few years, trucks were in the pipeline for Mexico and other South American markets, but the focus in the US was almost exclusively on SUVs. Nissan might want to reconsider that, because this new Frontier Pro is a stone-cold stunner with some impressive numbers behind it.
