Relentless rain deluge to lash NSW, Qld coast for days

A massive dumping of rain across the QLD and NSW coast is expected to last until the middle of the week, with fears for severe thunderstorms and flash flooding in place for parts of NSW.

A persistent dumping of rain over the east coast of Australia is expected to last for days. 

The deluge, which sparked rescues across Sydney over the weekend, is expected to continue for parts of the NSW and Queensland coast until the middle of the week.

A Weatherzone spokesperson said the heaviest rain will be from Sydney to Coffs Harbour, with 20-40mm expected, while spots between Port Macquarie and Newcastle could experience as much as 150mm.

The spokesperson said 'showers and winds would start to ease on Thursday'.  They said the current wet and wild weather was not uncommon for April.

'Between April and June we do see heavy rain and strong winds across the eastern seaboard,' they said.

NSW

A severe thunderstorm warning is in place for the Central Coast with fears for flash flooding on Monday.

A strong wind warning has been issued for Coffs Coast, Macquarie Coast and Hunter Coast
